Launch Month--Betsy Ross & Women's History Month
Share
Hello and welcome to the Heritage Letter! We're so glad you're here and hope you are ready to start your journey into American history with the Heritage Letter.
March is Women's History Month, so we're kicking things off with a visit to the world of Betsy Ross, the American Revolution, and the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
I visited the Betsy Ross house when I was a teenager and loved learning about the woman who helped shape our young country during the Revolution by giving our troops a flag to rally behind. The folks at the Betsy Ross house have done a wonderful job preserving this piece of America's history. If you head over to our lesson plans page on Betsy Ross here and scroll towards the bottom you can watch a video of one of the reenactors demonstrating how to make a five-point star with a single cut.
While you're on the lesson plans page be sure to check out our recommended books, crafts, and other activities that you and your family may enjoy doing alongside enjoying your Betsy Ross letter. You can also head over to our Pinterest page where we've created a board with US flag-based patriotic craft ideas.
Historical reenactors hold a special place in our hearts here at the Heritage Letter. They help bring history to life in a way unlike any other. Reenactors allow us to use all of our five senses as we see, hear, touch, smell, and taste history.
We hope you'll love the Betsy Ross letter as much as we do and that you'll enjoy celebrating Women's History Month 2019 with Betsy Ross and the Heritage Letter!
